Catholic Vote, a non-profit organization, recently released an ad starring Kansas City Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker encouraging Kansans to vote for the Value Them Both Amendment.

The amendment calls for restrictions on abortion without banning it, according to the Value Them Both website. The Kansas Constitution does not require government funding of abortion and does not create or secure a right to abortion, the post on the website reads.

In Catholic Vote's ad, Butker explains what the Value Them Both Amendment would accomplish and why he believes Kansans should vote for it.

"This amendment will let Kansas decide what we do on abortion," Butker said in the ad.

According to Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, if passed, the Value Them Both Amendment would clarify that there is no right to abortion or taxpayer-funded abortion in the Kansas Constitution and restore the right to enact laws regarding abortion to Kansans and lawmakers.

A survey conducted by co/efficient asked 1,557 Kansas voters for their thoughts on abortion and specifically whether they planned to support the Value Them Both Amendment, according to Christian Post. Based on responses collected from July 17-18, 47% of likely primary election voters said they plan to vote in favor of the amendment, while 43% said they intended to vote against it. The remaining 10% were undecided.

The vote for the Value Them Both Amendment will take place Aug. 2.

Harrison Butker is an NFL kicker. He will begin his sixth year in the league this fall. He won Super Bowl LIV with the Chiefs in 2019.
