On Thursday, U.S. Senator Roger Marshall (R-Kansas) joined other Republican senators in introducing a Senate resolution to honor the life of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA. Kirk was killed while hosting an event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.
Senator Marshall expressed condolences to Kirk's family, stating, "My wife Laina and I are devastated, and our hearts and prayers are with his wife, Erika, and their two children. Charlie was a person of faith, and I know that God will be there for his family in this moment. Charlie’s legacy is cemented as one of the great thought leaders of Conservatism in the 21st century, reaching millions of young people and college students about the importance of faith, family, and country."
The resolution introduced by Senator Marshall and his colleagues condemns the assassination of Kirk and recognizes his contributions to conservative advocacy on college campuses. The text notes that Kirk founded Turning Point USA in 2012, which became one of the fastest-growing campus organizations in the United States. It also highlights Kirk's role in engaging students from different political backgrounds through open debate and civil discourse.
