The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is now accepting applications for the fall 2025 round of its Cost Share Program. Since its inception in 2019, the program has distributed over $157 million to communities across Kansas. The initiative aims to provide financial assistance for construction projects that enhance safety and leverage state funds to boost transportation investment, benefiting both rural and urban areas.

Michelle Needham, Economic Development Programs Manager, highlighted the program's impact: "KDOT’s Cost Share Program improves transportation, creates economic growth and increases job opportunities across Kansas." She added that previous participants have found it to be a crucial financial aid for achieving project goals.

Eligible projects include roadway improvements, rail, airport enhancements, bicycle/pedestrian paths, and public transit developments. Projects should offer transportation benefits not covered by other KDOT programs. This funding round has a total budget of $6 million, with a maximum of $1 million available per project.

Applications must be submitted by September 18. Further details and application forms are accessible on KDOT’s website at https://www.ksdot.gov/programs/economic-development-programs/cost-share-program. Applications will be processed online, with a sample PDF available for preview. For inquiries, Michelle Needham can be contacted via email at michelle.d.needham@ks.gov.
