A Missouri nurse has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Kansas City, Kansas, on charges related to illegally obtaining controlled substances. Brooke Haller, 40, of Kansas City, Missouri, faces four counts of possession of a controlled substance by deception and subterfuge.

Court documents state that Haller, who works as a nurse, allegedly acquired Percocet and Oxycodone through misrepresentation and fraud. She appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Angel D. Mitchell in the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas on July 25, 2025.

The Drug Enforcement Administration is leading the investigation into this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Faiza Alhambra is handling the prosecution.

"An indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law."
