The Kansas-Oklahoma Arkansas River Commission (KOARC) is set to hold its 61st annual meeting on Wednesday, July 23, at the Hilton Garden Inn Bartlesville in Oklahoma. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. and is open to the public.
The meeting invites those interested in water-related activities within the lower Arkansas River basin in Kansas and Oklahoma to attend. The Arkansas River Compact, established between Kansas and Oklahoma in 1965, aims to promote interstate cooperation, equitable water division, orderly development of water resources, and pollution abatement programs.
The Compact Commission consists of three commissioners from each state appointed by their respective governors and is chaired by a federal representative appointed by the President of the United States.
For questions regarding the meeting, Lizzie Hickman from the Kansas Department of Agriculture's Division of Water Resources can be contacted at 785-564-6679 or via email at Elizabeth.Hickman@ks.gov. More information about KOARC and the annual meeting is available on the KDA website at www.agriculture.ks.gov/KOARC.
