The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has initiated resurfacing work on U.S. 36 in Republic and Washington counties. The project involves applying a chip seal from the east city limits of Belleville in Republic County, extending east for approximately 18 miles to K-22 in Washington County, and includes one mile of K-139 from U.S. 36 to Cuba.
During the construction period, traffic will be managed by flaggers and a pilot car, guiding vehicles through the area at reduced speeds. Motorists should anticipate delays of up to 15 minutes and are advised to plan for additional travel time.
Vance Brothers Inc. and Subsidiary, based in Kansas City, Missouri, is serving as the prime contractor for this $864,000 project. Completion is expected in July, contingent on weather conditions.
KDOT emphasizes the importance of driver alertness and adherence to posted signs within all work zones. For updates on road conditions, drivers can visit kandrive.gov or call 5-1-1.
