4% of citizens in Kansas unemployed in 2021

Kansas' unemployment rate hit 4% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That's 61,847 people out of the 2,932,099 living in Kansas at the time, according to data U.S. Census Bureau data obtained on Oct. 26, 2023.

The unemployment rate in Kansas has remained fairly stable compared to the 4% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Kansas was less than the national unemployment rate of 5.5%.

Of the 1,468,583 people who had a job during that time, 18,367 were employed in the Armed Forces and 1,450,216 belonged to the civilian labor force.
