(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Roger Marshall spoke on the Senate floor to introduce his Amendment to the debt ceiling ‘deal’ expressing his frustration that this ‘deal’ put zero dollars into securing our wide-open borders. Sen. Marshall proposed an amendment to include the House passed Secure the Border Act to the debt ceiling legislation to secure our southern border, restart construction of the border wall, and add thousands of additional border patrol agents.

Highlights from his remarks include:
“I cannot in good conscience support this debt limit deal and saddle my grandchildren with this $4 trillion in additional debt. This bill misses the mark, and perhaps what’s more frustrating is that it does not give a single cent to securing our border. ZERO DOLLARS to address the greatest, most immediate, national security threat to our country.”
“This past weekend alone, CBP made over 13,000 apprehensions, there were over 4,000 ‘Gotaways,’ and CBP seized 118 pounds of meth, 14 pounds of fentanyl, and apprehended 6 sex offenders, and 5 gang members.”
“We have a crisis unfolding at our southern border – it’s happening right now – in plain sight – and it’s impacting every community across the country. I will not sit here, form committees, and pray about it. We need action on June 2.”
