The Johnson County men's soccer team exploded for 12 goals over the weekend posting a pair of shutouts. They opened the weekend Friday, September 3, with a 5-0 blanking over Lewis & Clark, and followed with a 7-0 pounding over Southwestern Illinois on Saturday afternoon, September 2.
The five-goal margin against Lewis & Clark ties the largest in series history, and the seven-goal margin against Southwestern Illinois is the largest in the 36-game series. The previous largest margin was four goals done in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
In the win over Lewis. & Clark forward Peyton Wilson tallied two goals. Forward Alan Lopez and midfielder Dylan Naidu each had a goal and an assist. Midfielder George Hanson dished out two assists, forward Ashton Owen netted a goal and midfielder Caden Hoehns was credited with an assist.
Brandon McGaugh earned the shutout victory saving all four shots he faced.
Against SWIC Wilson scored the game winner in fourth minute off a feed from Hanson, who also had another assist and a goal.
Jacksyn McIntyre scored the second and seventh goals. Lopez had a goal and assist, defender Peyton Hylok had two assists and midfielders Nate Getahun and Ryan Hanson each were credited with an assist.
Cole Stewart saved all three shots he faced to preserve the shutout victory.
The Cavaliers will host two games this week. On Wednesday, September Central Community College comes to campus for a 3:30 start, and on Friday, September 10, they host Garden City Community College at 2 p.m.
