U.S. Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) said that the government should focus on rebuilding our economy, not passing far-left agenda items.
“I took to the House floor to stand for the hardworking Americans who were ignored in Speaker Pelosi’s $1.9 trillion budget,” Estes wrote on Twitter.
Estes said that the bill is full of “job-killing mandates.”
He stressed that apart from COVID-19 medical treatments, “the main priority should be getting people back to work,” which he says isn’t reflected in the bill.
It will instead “raise expenses for main street in nearly doubling the federal minimum wage at a time when thousands of small businesses are already struggling to keep the lights on.”
“The Biden administration should instead focus on families that are hurting the most, targeting ... the more than 8 million people who’ve lost their job due to COVID,” Estes said. “Workers, families, and small businesses don’t need more Washington regulations or mandates. They need to have the economy up and running again.”
Estes reiterated that jobs and helping families get back on their feet should be the focal point of the Biden administration. “It is far more interested in advancing a radical left-wing wish lift over our common-sense economic policies that will help our main street businesses and families,” he said.
