Water Park will not be open this weekend

McPHERSON — Due to the continued shortage of available lifeguards and with several more getting ready to return to school, administration at the McPherson Water Park has made the difficult decision to close three days this week.

The Water Park will not be in operation Friday, Saturday or Sunday Aug. 5, 6, or 7 due to the shortage.

There are not enough available guards to safely operate the facility under the guidelines provided by the American Red Cross.

The facility, a joint operation between the City of McPherson and the McPherson Recreation Commission, will close for the season Aug. 14.

In July, the McPherson City Commission approved a motion to close the Water Park Mondays to help with the staff shortages and employee fatigue. As well, the Commission accepted a motion to offer a to-be-determined credit toward 2023 punch passes.
