The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) has unanimously advanced the Retire through Ownership Act, a bipartisan bill aimed at strengthening employee ownership in the United States. The legislation, introduced by U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas), seeks to provide legal and regulatory clarity for the creation of new employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) and reduce operational burdens for existing ESOPs.
Senator Marshall commented on the committee's decision: “Kansans are known for their work ethic, and they deserve a secure retirement following a lifetime of hard work. Today, every Republican and Democrat member of the HELP Committee voted to advance my bipartisan legislation that will make it easier for Americans to save for the future and retire with confidence. I urge Congress to swiftly pass this legislation.”
The bill now moves forward in Congress as supporters call for its passage.
