U.S. Senator Roger Marshall (R-Kansas) and Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho) have introduced the Say No to Indoctrination Act, a bill aimed at preventing federal funding for teaching gender theory in K-12 schools. The legislation seeks to codify an executive order issued by President Trump in January 2025 that restricts taxpayer dollars from supporting what the senators describe as "radical gender ideology" in public education.
Senator Marshall stated, “As American students lag behind globally in math, reading, and writing, the last thing our taxpayer-funded teachers and schools should be doing is teaching radical leftist nonsense like so-called gender theory. I’m proud to support this legislation to codify President Trump’s executive order, and ensure our children’s education is focused on meaningful, future-ready skills, not woke ideology.”
Senator Risch added, “Schools should prepare our children for the future, not promote radical gender ideology. The Say No to Indoctrination Act puts an end to woke education practices in K-12 schools and makes President Trump’s common-sense policy permanent.”
The bill has additional support from Senators Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Ted Budd (R-North Carolina), Josh Hawley (R-Missouri), Eric Schmitt (R-Missouri), and Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama). Advocacy groups such as Concerned Women for America and American Principles Project have also expressed their support for the proposed legislation.
