Nerman Visiting Artist Talk with Boi Boy and Professors Joy Rhodes and Britt Benjamin

Date:6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, November 30, 2022

Location:Hudson Auditorium, NMOCA

Categories:Arts & Performances

Well-loved fashion, timeless trinkets and statement pieces all made their way to the Nerman Museum’s newest exhibition, “Adorned.” Uncover the collaboration process with JCCC Fashion Professors Joy Rhodes and Britt Benjamin and guest artist and co-curator of the show Boi Boy.

“Adorned” embodies the spirit of connections. In three separate installations, the exhibition highlights the Fashion Collection at JCCC, overseen by Rhodes, Professor and Chair of JCCC’s Fashion Merchandising & Design Department. Selections from the Fashion Collection provided the impetus for the installations by Boi Boy. JoAnne Northrup, Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, co-curated the exhibition.

Boi Boy is a Kansas City-based artist who graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute Fiber Program in 2016. They currently serve as Communications and Volunteer Coordinator at Charlotte Street Foundation.

The JCCC Fashion Collection brings transformative value to students and the community through the preservation and celebration of fashion and local history. The collection serves as a valuable resource to students and supports myriad educational curricula within the Fashion Merchandising & Design program.

Reception in Museum Atrium to follow. Free and open to the public.
