Protesters flooded the Kansas State Capitol in Topeka yesterday, waving flags and carrying “Stop the Steal” signs.
WIBW-TV reported there were 200 at the peaceful rally in which supporters filed into the statehouse through security checkpoints and walked around historical exhibits.
“We believe that we won the election by a landslide and it’s been really difficult for us to show all the fraud that’s been going on,” Jessica Pereira, organizer of Kansas Rallies, said.
Others said the protests will continue.
“We’re going to continue to protest and we’re going to continue to voice our opinion and we’re going to write and call our congressmen and hold them accountable,” attendee Mark Magner said.
Across the country, protesters marched at their statehouses. In Minnesota, there were cheers when the Capitol news broke. In New Mexico, the state police had to evacuate staff as a precaution.
In Utah, Gov. Spencer Cox sent home hundreds of protesters. A small fight broke out in Ohio between pro-Trump demonstrators and counter-protesters. There was at least one person arrested in Oregon.
In Hawaii, protesters lined the road near the capitol building and waved American flags and Trump 2020 flags.
There were also protesters in South Carolina, but they left the statehouse before the attack occurred at the U.S. Capitol.
