Following the Senate’s approval of SB 35, a bill aimed at providing property tax relief to Kansans, NFIB State Director Dan Murray expressed strong support for the measure. He described it as a ‘top priority’ for small and family-owned businesses in Kansas.
Murray stated, “As inflation continues to take a toll on Main Street employers and hardworking families alike, tax relief is crucial to buoying our state’s economy and promoting economic growth. Cutting property taxes is the top priority of Kansas small business owners, as a recent NFIB survey found. This is an important step in providing real relief to Kansans, and we urge the House to swiftly follow suit.”
The annual survey conducted by NFIB revealed that over 88% of participating Kansas members are in favor of property tax reductions, including changes to the statewide property tax mill levy and local ad valorem rates.
Additionally, the latest Small Business Problems & Priorities survey highlighted that both tax rates and complexity remain significant challenges for small business owners.
