The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has issued a warning about a new scam involving fraudulent text messages. The department advises recipients not to click on any links in these messages, as they are not associated with a legitimate KDOT website and could compromise personal data.

KDOT emphasizes that it does not collect tolls or traffic ticket payments and will never send unsolicited text messages for such purposes. The public is encouraged to report any scam texts received to the following websites: www.ic3.gov and https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/.

“KDOT does not collect tolls or payment for parking tickets,” reiterated the department in its statement.
