The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is organizing Local Consult meetings throughout October to gather public input on regional transportation needs. These sessions will cover various topics, including highways, public transit, and pedestrian pathways.

“We want to hear directly from Kansans about what transportation improvements are important to them,” said Secretary Calvin Reed. Attendees will have the opportunity to influence which projects KDOT should prioritize for future infrastructure enhancements.

In addition to sharing their views, participants will learn about ongoing transportation investments in their regions and available grant funding programs through KDOT. Eight meetings are scheduled across different regions and metro areas to maximize public participation.

The meeting schedule is as follows: Pittsburg on October 7 at Pittsburg Memorial Auditorium; Wichita on October 8 at Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex; Topeka on October 9 at Maner Conference Centre; Pratt on October 13 at Pratt Community College – Benson Education Center; Liberal on October 14 at Seward County Activity Center; Colby on October 15 at City Limits Convention Center; Kansas City on October 21 at Great Wolf Lodge; and Salina on October 23 at Tony’s Pizza Events Center.

A statewide virtual meeting is also planned for October 28 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., with prior registration required via the KDOT website https://www.ksdot.gov/local-consult-2025.

KDOT encourages residents to complete an online survey before attending these meetings. The Local Consult meetings occur biennially, providing a platform for Kansans to engage with local, state, and federal officials regarding transportation concerns across the state.
