The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) is now accepting applications for the FY25 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program, which aims to support projects that enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops in Kansas. The program is funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service (USDA-AMS) and provides grants to organizations working to promote and expand the specialty crop industry.
Specialty crops, as defined by the USDA, include fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, and nursery crops, including floriculture. The grant funds will support efforts in marketing and promotion, research and development, accessibility, and addressing industry challenges at local, regional, and national levels.
Applications will be reviewed by an external panel based on their potential to strengthen the Kansas specialty crop industry and contribute to statewide economic growth. Final funding decisions will be made by the Kansas Secretary of Agriculture.
