No. 18 Kansas will take its 11-game winning streak to Stillwater for a three-game series against Oklahoma State beginning Friday, April 17. The opening game is set for a 2 p.m. start at O’Brate Stadium after being moved up from its original time due to possible inclement weather.
The matchup is significant as Kansas has achieved its best start in Big 12 play in program history, currently leading the conference with a record of 27-10 overall and 12-3 in the Big 12. The Jayhawks have won eight consecutive conference games and four straight Big 12 series, milestones not previously reached by the team.
Head coach Dan Fitzgerald said, “I think our guys love playing baseball. I know the mind and soul of a competitor is once that game starts, you’re focused on the spin of the baseball and never taking your eye off that thing. They’re mature in a lot of ways. There’s a lot of maturing that we need to do, but they enjoy competing as much as any group I’ve been around.” Kansas extended its current winning streak with a recent victory over Wichita State and now holds the second longest active winning streak in NCAA Division I baseball.
Kansas recently entered several national rankings following wins over ranked opponents Nebraska and UCF, reaching No. 18 by D1Baseball and The Athletic among other polls—the highest ranking since March 2014 according to available records.
Oklahoma State enters the series with an overall record of 23-14 (7-8 Big 12) and has performed strongly at home this season with a record of 15-3 at O’Brate Stadium. The Cowboys are currently ninth in conference standings but have won their last two games against Kansas State and Oklahoma.
The probable starting pitchers include Mathis Nayral for Kansas on Friday facing Ethan Lund from Oklahoma State; Dominic Voegele will pitch Saturday for Kansas against Mario Pesca; Sunday’s starters are yet to be determined.
Fans can watch all three games on ESPN+ or listen via KLWN radio or Jayhawk Sports Network online platforms. Live statistics will also be available along with updates on social media channels.
Looking ahead, Kansas will return home to host Nebraska on Tuesday, April 21.
