Dixie National Livestock Show celebrates its diamond anniversary

Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson is inviting the public to attend the 60th annual Dixie National Livestock Show and Rodeo. The event will take place at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds on Sunday, February 2, and Monday, February 3, 2025.

A highlight of the event is the Legislative Livestock Showdown scheduled for Monday, February 3, at 6:00 p.m. in the Mississippi Coliseum. This competition pairs legislators with youth exhibitors from their districts to compete in skill and showmanship. Winners will be chosen among representatives and senators, along with an overall champion.

The Dixie National Horse and Mule Color Bonanza Show concludes on Sunday inside the Kirk Fordice Equine Center. Starting at 8:00 a.m., it features mules and donkeys of various colors and sizes, as well as horses from multiple registries. Participants have traveled from states including Nebraska, North Carolina, Florida, and Alaska.

Scheduled events for Sunday include the Market Steer Show at 10:00 a.m., Commercial Beef Heifer Show at 2:30 p.m., and Dixie National Steakhouse open from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. On Monday, activities include Angus Showmanship at 7:30 a.m., Beef Showmanship at 8:00 a.m., Beef Breeding Bull Show at 1:30 p.m., alongside the Legislative Livestock Showdown.

The Dixie National Rodeo runs from Friday, February 7 through Saturday, February 15 inside the Mississippi Coliseum. Entertainment includes performances by Sam Barber on February 7 and Gretchen Wilson on February 15. The first Dixie National High School Rodeo will occur on Sunday, February 16.

Tickets for the rodeo can be purchased online or in-person for concert-only shows that are sold out. Additional information is available on www.dixienational.org or through social media platforms.
